by Arlene Whiting September 6, 2013 Statistics show that the average Facebook user has 229 friends. Would you consider tapping into 1.15 billion active users? Would you like to go International? If for nothing else the odds on a 1% reach of 1.15 billion is enough motivation for me. Also you are able to reach a large group of people with purchasing power. Facebook is not just for the teens, but for the baby boomers also. Inclusive of myself, but I'm a baby boomer who jumped on board early in 2004. You can connect with your customers, the ones who know your brand. Customers that have bought from you before. These folks know you and your brand. They will most likely share with their friends. When your customer clicks the "Like" button on your brand it goes straight to their wall and their friends will see it. In addition advertising on Facebook doesn't cost much. You can advertise on a shoestring budget. You can present your brand to a certain area. Also with Facebook you have various advertising optons. The Fan page is one;you can also do polls, events, contest, upload a video, and sample products. by Arlene Whiting August 14, 2013 Social Networking has become a very resourceful tool in the area of business and at times overwhelming, because there is always a new twist. As a marketer you need to stay focused. This is the fourth one in a series of articles on advertising and marketing. Below are several insights that I want to share. 1.You can't be in two places at one time. Choose a social network and do that one. Work on building a brand there and a strong foundation. Building up your followers and fans. Once you have that one in sync, then go to the next social network. 2.Find a reliable and trustworthy person to represent your brand. IF you have someone like this in place then you are one step ahead. 3.The competition is stiff and there are others who are working towards the same goals and benchmarks. Become interested in what your customers/clients are interested in. Brainstorm just as you would offline for online. The game hasn't changed just the platform.
